Princess Zipporah

In honor of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, Birdie gives a curtsy to the royalty at her house.

At the door, willing it to open.
She has me trained.
I hold it. She pauses, looks, hurries through.
Returns. Bids me come.
Repeat performance. I serve her entrance.
My cat in spring.

  1. How appropriate is the name Zipporah! Did you know it’s from the Hebrew name צִפּוֹרָה (Tzipporah), derived from צִפּוֹר (tzippor) meaning “bird”? Something tells me you did 🙂
